New Membership
Overview
Bristol Corinthian Yacht Club (BCYC) warmly welcomes new members. Whether you are a dinghy sailor, windsurfer, wing foiler, SUP enthusiast, or kayaker, you'll find a home here. Our community spans the full spectrum of experience, from absolute beginners to elite, top-class racers.
Nestled on the southern slopes of the Mendip Hills, the club enjoys unparalleled views across the Somerset countryside. Our modern clubhouse features:
- Facilities: Hot showers and spacious changing rooms.
- Social Space: A large club room and an attractive bar.
- The View: Relax with friends and enjoy the reservoir's incredible birdlife as the sun setsthe perfect antidote to a busy working week.
Visit Us: We invite you to see the club for yourself. We are busiest on Saturdays and Sundays. Please come to the reception in the main bar area to speak with a member; if no one is at the desk, feel free to introduce yourself to the duty crew, who will be happy to assist you.
Our Commitment: We aim to be fully inclusive and provide a safe, welcoming environment for everyone. Our [Club Constitution and Rules] ensure we remain legally compliant and provide a clear framework for our community.
The Corinthian Spirit: Our Duties
BCYC is a Corinthian Club, meaning it is run by the members, for the members. To keep our club safe and effective without the need for paid staff, all adult members contribute by completing a minimum of two duty days per year. (For 'Two Adult' memberships, this is four duties per household).
- Training provided: New members receive a free, one-day safety boat training session.
- Support: You will always be paired with an experienced member for your duties. Most members find this a fantastic way to learn the "ropes" and meet new people.
- Flexibility: If you cannot attend a scheduled duty, we have processes in place to swap with another member or arrange a paid substitute.
