Club Induction and Power Boat Introduction Course
This induction day is designed to show you around the club and covers topics such as:
- Opening up the club house
- The location of important equipment etc.
- How the club runs, e.g. your duty day requirements
- Procedures for storage, preparation and correct use of club boats and equipment.
- The Powerboat Introduction Course
The Powerboat Introduction Course is a 1-day training course for new and existing Bristol Corinthian club members aged 16+. The cost is included in club membership fees.
No previous boating experience is required. Please note that this part of the day will be on the water and relevant clothing will be required!
The course covers the basics of safely launching and operating the club's powerboats at Cheddar reservoir. There will be simple rescue exercises, designed to help you when on duty at the club. Although our syllabus is mostly drawn from the RYA Powerboat scheme, this course is not RYA certificated.
To book your place please login to your account on the BCYC Website (Use the Login option on top right of this screen), choose the course on a day that you can make, and then 'Volunteer' for that course. If there are no Volunteer places left then please choose another day. If you subsequently need to change or cancel this booking please either request a duty swap with someone else on the course (but different day), or email pbtadmin@bcyc.org.uk . Please note that if you do not show up for this course and have not made any attempt to contact the organiser, you may be charged a fee. The course is run by volunteers and their time is as precious to them as yours is to you.
Attending this course will form one of your required 2 duties for this membership year.
