Charles Davidson was approached by the newsletter editor and asked to help promote racing for new and inexperienced members of BCYC.
"BCYC has always had an outstanding reputation for producing top quality sailors – you just have to read through the Roll of Honour to see how many national and world champions we have amongst our ranks! But many of those new to sailing are worried about starting racing or about getting in the way of those more experienced, or not being competitive. Racing is fun – and it's a great way of improving your sailing skills and learning from others while on the water. I am keen to help those new to racing to become more confident with a series of articles taking you through everything from understanding the course and starting signals through to winning manoeuvres at marks.
