2 Hour Stand Up Paddleboard Lesson
This is two hour paddleboarding lesson on Cheddar Reservoir, near Axbridge Somerset held every Sunday evening at 18:00, led by a BSUPA or British Canoe qualified instructor.
Your board, paddle, leash, buoyancy aid are provided, sanitised wetsuits are available if not already been used during the day. Please bring shoes that can get wet.
Booking for the session will close at 18:00 on Saturday Night to allow for the management of numbers and the required instructors.
Please do not bring lots of valuables to the session - we do have secure locker to store your car keys and phone - these will need to be sanitised after storage in a common locker.
You will be asked to complete a health declaration.
The session starts at 18:00, with putting on a wetsuit (optional) and buoyancy aid (mandatory) before a safety briefing and introduction to the kit.
There is a land demo followed by short on the water demo of the three key stages of paddleboarding which are, prone, kneeling and standing.
Once the group has mastered the basics, there will be a short trip around the lake to practice the basic techniques before an introduction to new techniques, developing the paddle strokes, counter balance, recovery stroke, core stroke and advanced turns. These techniques will be used to paddle further and faster and when developing tighter turns.
There will be a test of paddle skills and the opportunity to practice all the skills learnt before returning to shore for a debrief and discussion on next stages for developing your skills.
How Much Does It Cost?
The cost is £30. Tickets are purchased online and sent to your email, and tickets can be cancelled up to one day in advance.
BCYC Members apply the promotional code BCYC_Member when purchasing tickets, and bring your BCYC Membership card along with your ticket for a reduced charge.
Is there a multi-booking / Group Discount? Can we do a different day?
For two people or more booking together the ticket is £25 per person

What About Corporate Groups?

What if the weather is bad?
In extreme circumstances when it is too windy, the session will not be able to take place and an alternative date will be offered to all participants.
What Do I Need To Bring?
A towel and a pair of trainers , beach shoes or pumps that can get wet. if you want to bring your own wetsuit
A board, paddle, leash, buoyancy aid is provided. All kit is individually cleaned before use.
