Low Water at BCYC - The Club's still open using the Buddy System

Published 20:50 on 2 Oct 2018

To all club members – important information

With this exceptionally long hot summer, it's not surprising that the water levels at Cheddar Reservoir have dropped so much that we cannot safely launch our rescue boats now. This means we have had to cancel our sailing race programme until further notice.

HOWEVER, this does not stop club members using the water!

The club will be OPEN on Saturdays and Sundays with duty crew, and members are welcome to go on the water using the Buddy System. You only need two dinghies or two windsurfers or two SUPs or three kayaks together to buddy up. We recommend that dinghies use a flotation device at the top of the mast – if you turtle you'll get your mast stuck in weed.

Remember the Buddy System is available every day until 1st November, and over the winter on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday until 31st March.

We can't help the dry weather – but we CAN still enjoy our time on the water and at the club. If you need any further information or advice please email vicecommodore@bcyc.org.uk or secretary@bcyc.org.uk

Please note there won't be anyone scheduled for galley duty, but you're welcome to use the kitchen facilities yourself.
