Bristol Water approves phased return to watersports from Monday 18th May
We're delighted to announce that BCYC members are allowed back on the water from Monday 18th May. This is a phased return, as per RYA Guidelines, so we will be working to a revised Buddy System.
Here are the key things you need to know:
- There is an online Buddy Form now available in the members section of the BCYC website.
- You need to be logged onto the members portal of the website to access the form which you can see here
- if you intend to go on the water, you MUST complete the Buddy Form online at least 24 hours in advance. The form ensures you have a pre-arranged group with a group leader.
- The Buddy System is ONLY available to BCYC members. Our agreed Covid compliant procedures do not permit visitors onto the water during this phase.
Attached are the full details of the procedures to follow if you intend to go to the club and onto the water. We must follow all of these - if we are found to be in breach, Bristol Water may withdraw the approval.
These are still very difficult times and whilst we want to be able to enjoy our watersports, we must be mindful of our actions and how they appear to anyone around the area.
So please read fully the attached document which outlines all of the procedures for the new Buddy System; and also make sure that you can access the members log in area of the BCYC website. You will need to know your password.
As the BW security guard is back on patrol now, we also suggest members print out their membership details and have these available to show as proof of membership if required.
There are many people to thank for BCYC being able to react quickly to getting back onto the water - these include Charles, Arky, Rhys, Adrian; all the members of the GC who have supported this; and finally a huge thanks to Rod Dickinson for creating the online Buddy System form. We are also very fortunate to have excellent relationships with Steve Smith at Bristol Water and we must thank him for acting quickly to enable this. Therefore please ensure we follow the guidance and procedures fully to show our gratitude.
